Vidalia,
Mr. Charles “Charlie” Smith, age 60, of Vidalia, died December 31, 2018 at Meadows Health in Vidalia, after an extended illness. He was a native of Decatur and lived most of his life in Higgston. He worked at Meadows Health for over twenty years as an x-ray technician and served in the United States Army. Charlie was a member of the Alee Shrine Temple in Savannah, Quint Shrine Club, and a Past Master of Lyons Masonic Lodge #49. He loved cooking, tending to his plants, was a gun enthusiast, and spending time with his two daughters and his cats. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mattie and Oscar Smith and his niece, Heather Smith.
Charlie is survived by his two daughters, Victoria “Tori” Smith of Lyons and Rebecca “Caroline” Smith of Athens; one brother, Billy Joe Smith of McDonough, one sister, Betty Zane Allen of Atlanta; nieces and nephews, Todd Smith, Alisa Basaraba, Chantelle Root, and Jay Greenwood; and his precious cats.
The memorial service will be held Friday, January 4th at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Wally Hill officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5:00 until just prior to the service.
