Lyons,
Mr. Cecil O’Neal, age 74, of Lyons, died Monday, July 16, 2018, in Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, after an extended illness. He was a native of Lyons, and was a 1966 graduate of Lyons High School. He retired from the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office, and was a volunteer with the Lyons Fire Department for more than forty years. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam Era. He was Baptist by faith, and was preceded in death by his parents, George Washington O’Neal and Frankie Rudd O’Neal; and nine brothers and sisters.
Mr. O’Neal is survived by his wife, Hong O’Neal of Lyons; two sons, Tony O’Neal and wife Debbie of Lyons, and Tommy O’Neal and wife Amy of Vidalia; one sister, Frances O’Neal Youmans and husband C.M. of Lyons; three grandchildren, Becky Bruno and husband Adam, Scott Hutto, all of Vidalia, and Amber Cranford of Reidsville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Friday, July 20th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Ricky Cummings officiating. Burial will follow in the Lyons City Cemetery with Military Honors.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
