Mrs. Carolyn Terry Bond, age 60 of Vidalia, died Monday, February 8, 2010 at her residence after an extended illness. She was a native of Danville, Virginia, grew up in Roanoke, Virginia and graduated there from the Patrick Henry High School. She earned an Associate Degree from Averett College in Danville; a Bachelors of Science, a Masters in Education, and an Education Specialist all from Georgia Southern University. She was a teacher at the Toombs Central School for nine years, retired after twenty-four years as a high school counselor at the Appling County High School, and worked part-time for two years as Director of Student Assessment-Montgomery County Board of Education. She was a member, and Past Treasurer of the Georgia School Counselor’s Association, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Vidalia and the Miriam Wheeler Sunday School Class. She served as a Lay Leader, Chair PPR Committee, Evangelism Committee Chair, Council on Ministries Chair, a member of the Trustees and Administrative Board, and taught Disciple Bible Study for eight years. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph H. Terry.
 
Mrs. Bond is survived by her husband, Mark W. Bond of Vidalia, one daughter, Terri Jo Burner (Troy) of Milledgeville, one son, Chris Bond (Karen) of Vidalia, her mother, Madeline Terry of Vidalia, one brother, Reuben Terry of Roanoke, and six grandchildren, Austin, Jayson, Landon, Cayden, Zach, and Abby.
 
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 11th at 2:00 pm in the First United Methodist Church of Vidalia with Reverend Robert Greene and Jose Caraballo officiating. Interment will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
 
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
