Bonnie Claxton Obituary

Mrs. “Bonnie” Hooks Claxton, age 88, of Vidalia, died Thursday, October 31, 2019, in Meadows Health and Rehabilitation in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  She was a native of Treutlen County and lived there primarily until moving to Toombs County in 1956.  She worked with Oxford Industries for many years and was a homemaker.  She was a member of the Tabernacle Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school in the nursery and was a member of the Women’s Missionary Union.  She was an active supporter of the Paul Anderson Youth Home.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley E. Claxton; a son, Charles E. Claxton; a grandson, Christopher E. Claxton; parents, Herbert and Minnie Hooks; one sister, Anita H. Palacz; and one brother, Donald “Dinky” Hooks.

Mrs. Claxton is survived by four children, Cecelia Claxton Dykes and husband John of Gainesville, Georgia, Patty Claxton Kight and husband Alvie, Jr. of Vidalia, H. Stan Claxton of Augusta, and John Lynn Claxton and wife Tina of Vidalia; one daughter-in-law, Gail E. Claxton; one sister, Kay Hooks Pryor; one brother, Jerry D. Hooks and wife Jean, all of Augusta; one sister-in-law, Lillian Hooks of Soperton; one brother-in-law, Delbert Palacz of Augusta; twelve grandchildren, Eric Dykes and wife Cathy, Jason Dykes and wife Amy, Courtney Claxton, Jordan Kight and wife Natalie, Morgan Kight and wife Macy, Lauren Kight, Josh Claxton, Ryan Claxton, McKenzie Claxton, Justin Claxton, Kaitlyn Claxton and Colton Claxton; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, November 2nd at 2:00 p.m.. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Randy McDuffie officiating.  Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens. 

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
