Mt. Vernon,
Mrs. Bessie Woodson Daniell, age 96, of Mt. Vernon, died Saturday, May 25, 2019, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness. She was a native of Chickasaw, Alabama and grew up in Pensacola, Florida. She lived in Blakely and Newton before moving to Mt. Vernon in 1981. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon and a member and former teacher of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was a former member of the Mt. Vernon Garden Club and the Montgomery County Senior Citizens. While in Pensacola she did mission work, including a jail and prison ministry and homeless rescue. She was preceded in death by three husbands, Loy Daniell Lee “Woody” Woodson and J.T. Wilson; a daughter, Linda Lee Wilson; a son, John Wilson; an aunt and uncle who raised her, Annie Lee and Zeno Dreaden and parents, Ira and Roxie Bell Johnson Hall.
Mrs. Daniel is survived by two children, Debbie Wilson Curry and husband David of Mt. Vernon, and Ronnie Wilson of Lake City, Florida; one step-son, Warren Daniell and wife Barbara seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; and special friends and caregivers, Essie Davis, Jadee Hanson, and mary Jordan.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 29th at 3:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Mt. Vernon with Pastor Karl Hay officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
