Vidalia,
Mrs. Barbara Ann Galbreath Smith, age 84, of Vidalia, died Tuesday, January 8, 2019, at her home, after a sudden illness. She was a native of the Sharpespur Community in Montgomery County, and lived in the Cedar Crossing Community and Vidalia most of her life. She retired from Toombs Nursing Home in Lyons as a certified nursing assistant, was a member of the Center United Methodist Church, and enjoyed working in her yard and gardening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis “C.D.” Smith; a son, Curtis Dennis Smith; a grandson, Walker Adam Smith; parents, Franklin Mathew Galbreath and Sadie Phillips Galbreath; and two infant brothers.
Mrs. Smith is survived by seven children, David Smith, Michelle Smith Buchans and husband Ivan, Matt Smith and wife Janice, all of Vidalia, Bryan Smith and wife Jan of Cedar Crossing, Dennis Smith and wife Tammy of the Normantown Community, Suzanne Smith Carter and husband Stacy of Alston, and Zonnie Smith of Crestview, Florida; three sisters, Margaret Galbreath Pittman of Vidalia, Caroline Galbreath Merritt of Lyons, and Liz Galbreath Broadfoot of Vidalia; grandchildren, Christy Sharpe and husband Darrell, Crystal Smith Harden, Olivia Phillips, Whitney Smith, Nicole Poole and husband Byron, Curt Tootle and wife Destiny, Caleb Smith, Dean Smith, Hunter Smith, Cody Smith, Julie Smith, Gale Smith, Faith Smith, and Tessa Smith; great-grandchildren, Sarah Kate Sharpe, Lizzie Goodwin, Clayton Goodwin, Addie Patrick, Will Whitfield, Kolby Jase Harden, Maci McLendon, Letty Conley, Jacob Tootle, and Stella Tootle; several nieces and nephews; and her close friend Kim Kersey.
The funeral service will be held Friday, January 11th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Chester Proctor and Pastor Michael Plowman officiating. Burial will follow in the Moseley Cemetery near Uvalda.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
