Vidalia,
Mrs. Annette Whipple Ewing passed away peacefully on May 28, 2019 at the age of 82. She was born on May 24, 1937 in Vidalia, Georgia to the late Mell Gates Whipple and Oliver Coleman Whipple. Annette was born, raised, and lived in Vidalia and was a lifelong Presbyterian. She attended Vidalia Presbyterian Church and was loved by many. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Annette was a school teacher in Atlanta, Georgia. She taught for several years before working for the civil service. After twenty years with the civil service, Annette retired early to take care of her ailing husband of whom she adored. In addition to her parents, Annette was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Ewing who is buried in Atlanta.
Her survivors include her daughters, Anne Ewing Rood and Camella Ewing Duerr and husband Don, two granddaughters, Charlotte Rood and Ila Duerr, her step-children, David Ewing and wife Martha, Jo Ewing Anderson and husband Johnny, and Charles Ewing, Jr., step-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ewing and Luke Anderson, as well as beloved first cousins, Ellen Whipple Bankston, Oliver Whipple, Frances Deal, Bill Smith, and Peggy Gates.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held Friday, May 31, 2019, at 3:30 p.m. in the sanctuary of Vidalia Presbyterian Church with Reverend Ron Gilreath and Reverend Proctor Chambless officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church on Friday afternoon from 2:30 until just prior to the service and also after the service at Annette’s home.
