Mrs. Alma Colson Higgs, age 95, of Lyons, died Friday, September 27, 2019, in Oxley Park Health and Rehabilitation in Lyons, after an extended illness. She was a native of the Blue Ridge Community and lived in Lyons most of her life. She was a homemaker and a member of Sharpe’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Lyons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Brooks Higgs; parents, Milton Mannie Colson and Carrie Shuman Colson; three brothers, Lester Colson, Ernest Colson and Harley Colson; and five sisters, Bertie Colson Cooper, Leila Ellyson, Clara Wybrew, Pat McLeod and Alice Mosley.
Mrs. Higgs is by survived three children, Jon Bentley of Lyons, Janet Higgs Perry and husband Al of Dublin, and Greg Higgs of Vidalia; one sister-in-law, Robena Colson of Lyons; three grandchildren, Dusty Bentley of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, Stephanie Gordon of Dublin, and Brooks Johnson of Baxley; one great-grandson, Todd Jones of Collins; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Monday, September 30th, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
