Mrs. Janice Rhodes, age 79, of Vidalia, died Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at Memorial Health Meadows Hospital in Vidalia after a brief illness. She was a native of Rome, Georgia and lived most of her life in Vidalia. She was a graduate of Model High School and worked as a secretary with Marlin Rhodes Reality for many years. Janice attended Tabernacle Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Vidalia. In her spare time she enjoyed tending to her flowers, gardening and spending time with her family and friends. She especially loved watching her grandkids play ball. She is preceded in death by her husband of forty-nine years, Marlin Rhodes and her parents, Athel Buttram and Myrtle Wimpee Buttram.
Her family includes her daughter, Heather Moore and husband Matt of Vidalia; one sister, Shelvia Payne and husband Jerry of South Haven, Mississippi; three grandchildren, Shane, Autumn and Easton Moore; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening, March 28th at the funeral home from 6:00 until 8:00.
The funeral service will be held Friday afternoon, March 29th at 1:00 in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Bobby Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Crest Cemetery.
