Edna Demastes Obituary

Ms. Edna Faye Demastes, age 70, of Oak Park, died Saturday evening, March 9, 2024, at Community Hospice House in Vidalia after a brief illness. She was a native of Sparta and lived most of her life in Sparta before moving to Oak Park to be closer to her family. Ms. Demastes worked as a bank teller with Ameris Bank for many years and was a member of Balerma Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially loved watching General Hospital and she is preceded in death by her parents, Edward May and Alma Welch May; a sister, Betty Jo Johnson; a brother, Ronnie May; a son, Russell Lee Howard; and a son-in-law, James Mark Strange.

Her family includes her daughter, Debbie Strange of Oak Park; two brothers, Mickey May and wife Karen of Sparta and Jimmy May and wife Sissy of Worthen, Georgia; one sister, Gayle Woodall and husband Ron of Mitchell, Georgia; five grandchildren, Dustin Howard and wife Britney, Megan Strange and fiance Colby Mimbs, Morgan Strange, Dylan Howard and wife Jessica, and Carter Harrison; seven great grandchildren, Emmy Howard, Eva Howard, Bentley Smallwood, Braylin Howard, Wyatt Howard, Stormi Barnes and BJ Barnes; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening, March 15th at Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00.

Burial will be private at a later date.
