Mrs. Yunell Green Smith, age 68, of Vidalia, died Thursday, March 26, 2015 in the Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  She was a native of Appling County, and lived in Toombs and Tattnall Counties most of her life.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Modena Johnson Green; one brother, “Pocket” Green; and one sister, Mary Ann Holton.

Mrs. Smith is survived by seven children, William “Skeebo” Smith of Athens Wayne Smith of Athens, Samantha Salter Collins and husband Wayne of Vidalia, Neal Salter and wife Becky of the Center Community, Lisa Smith Weaver and husband Tracy of Blakely, Lloyd Smith and wife Betty of Uvalda, and Mindy Dunn and husband Mike of Minot, North Dakota; three sisters, Dorothy Ann Aldridge and husband Charles of Baxley, Debbie Varnadore and husband Richard of Byron, and Teresa Lynn Crummy and husband Randy of Baxley; two brothers, E.L. “Buddy” Green and wife Nancy of Byron, and Arva Lee Green and wife Imogene of Baxley; sixteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, March 28th at 3:00 p.m. in the Friendship Congregation Christian Church in Appling County with Pastor Paul Jackson officiating. 

The family will receive friends at the cemetery on Saturday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Landmark Baptist Church, P.O. Box 364, Lyons GA 30436.
