Mr. Wayne Moody, age 69, of Lyons, died Monday, January 16, 2017, in the Augusta University Medical Center, after a sudden illness. He was born in Seneca, South Carolina, and as a child, moved to Winnsboro, South Carolina where he graduated high school. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Vietnam Era, and was Baptist by faith. He worked as a supervisor with American Motors in Marshall, Texas, and later with Cooper Wiss in Statesboro for several years. He was a supervisor with Oxford Industries, parts manager with John Deere in Santa Claus, and presently was self-employed as a carpenter. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Moody; parents, Frances and Lewis Humphries; father, Ray Moody; two brothers, Gerald Moody and Carl Humphries; and two sisters, Cynthia Franklin and Rita Hinson.
Mr. Moody is survived by his wife, Penny Clifton Moody; one son, Matthew Moody, both of Lyons; two sisters, Elaine Blackwell and Angeline Chambers; one brother, Chuck Humphries; and several nieces and nephews.
The graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, January 19th at 1:00 p.m. in the Clifton Family Cemetery with Pastor Bradley Benton officiating.
The family will receive friends at the Clifton Family Cemetery from 12:30 until just prior to the service.
