Mt. Vernon,

Mrs. Wanda Sharpton Ethridge, age 82, of Mt. Vernon, died Friday, October 6, 2017, in Oxley Park Health and Rehabilitation in Lyons, after an extended illness.  She was a native of Ailey, and lived most of her life in Mt. Vernon.  She and her husband were the owners of Sharpton Gulf for twenty-five years.  She was an active member of the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, and the Fidelis Sunday School Class.  She was a member of the Eastern Star of Mt. Vernon.  She was preceded in death by two husbands, John Edward Sharpton and Bill Ethridge; and a daughter-in-law, Debbie Sharpton.

Mrs. Ethridge is survived by four sons, Jimmy Sharpton and wife Donna, Lefty Sharpton, Mike Sharpton and wife Sherri, and Tim Sharpton and wife Amy, all of Mt. Vernon; two sisters, Connie Joyner of Augusta, and Vela Davis and husband Charles of Ailey; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Monday, October 9th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Karl Hay officiating.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00.
