Vidalia,

Mrs. Vernie McLeod Sharpe, age 88, of Vidalia, died Wednesday, December 6, 2017, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  She was a native of Montgomery County, grew up there as a child, and has lived in Vidalia most of her life.  She retired as Supervisor from Oxford Distribution after many years.  She was a member of the Victory Baptist Church in Vidalia.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph “Buddy” Sharpe; parents, Charlie McLeod and Bessie Burns Collins; two brothers, C. L. McLeod and Royal McLeod; and sister, Evelyn McLeod.

Mrs. Sharpe is survived by two daughters, Sandy Sharpe Farrow and husband Howard, and Robin Sharpe Anners and husband “Deno”, all of Vidalia; six grandchildren, Robbie Farrow and wife Mia of Tarrytown, Tralane Bowen and husband Jeremy of Griffin, Shana Anners Collins of Vidalia, Dana Sumner and husband Will of Perry, Michael Farrow and wife Kaitlin of Athens, and Garrett Sharpe Anners and wife Casey of Vidalia; thirteen great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Maddie, Pierceson, Flint, Bradlee, Bailey, Ryan, Will, Chase, Landon, Daelyn, Trey, Lillian, one great-great-granddaughter, Avery; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, December 8th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Vansant and Reverend Raymond Burrell officiating.  Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
