Alston,
Mrs. Tyna Batten, age 43, of Alston, died Sunday, April 22, 2018, at home, after an extended illness. She was a native of Toombs County, living in Snellville and South Carolina for several years, and has lived in Alston since 2002. She was an Inspector with Georgia Department of Transportation for twenty years. She was a member of the Alston Baptist Church. Tyna enjoyed animals, horseback riding, and the outdoors. She was preceded in death by her father, Douglas Odom; and an uncle, Butch Thigpen.
Mrs. Batten is survived by her husband, Ronnie Batten of Alston; five daughters, Brooke Douglass and husband Matt of the Toombs Central Community, Abbie Owen of Alston, Allie Owen of Adairsville, Gabby Batten of Pridgen, and Kaylee Batten of Alston; her mother, Carolan “Kak” Odom of Alston; two sisters, Kathy Mathis and husband Robert of Alston, and Christina “Cricket” Johnson and husband Clint of Brunswick; four grandchildren, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 25th at 11:00 a.m. in the Sharpe Cemetery with Pastor Doyle Waller officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
