Mt. Vernon,
Mrs. Terry Jo Riner Lavender, age 73, of Mt. Vernon, died Friday, January 26, 2018, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after a brief illness. She was a native of Toombs County, and lived there and in the Vidalia area, until moving to Mt. Vernon sixteen years ago. She was a homemaker, Baptist by faith, was an Elvis Enthusiast, and was affectionately known as “Granny Toes”. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert Gilmore Riner and Vernie Myrtle Logan Riner.
Mrs. Lavender is survived by her husband, Randy Lavender of Mt. Vernon; four children, Kim Powell Mills of Warrior, Alabama, Lee Powell and wife Pam of Gardendale, Alabama, Brandy Toole and husband Wesley of Lyons, and Steven Baltimore of Reidsville; one sister, Dianne Riner Parker and husband Steve of lake Sinclair; one brother, Malcolm Riner and wife Joy of Chapel Hill, North Carolina; seven grandchildren, Dylan Mills, Tallon Powell, Jordan Hutcheson, Morgan Newsome, Jayden Toole, Timberly Hallbauer, and Lindsey Fulton; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 30th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Ray Wood officiating.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
