Treutlen County,

Mrs. Reval Gilbreath Herndon, age 90, of the Blackville Community in Treutlen County, died Thursday, December 28, 2017, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia.  She was a native of Lake Wales, Florida, was a graduate of Lake Wales High School, and has lived in Treutlen County since 1976.  She was a homemaker, and she and her late husband previously owned Zaidee Store.  She was a member of the Zaidee Advent Christian Church, a former Sunday school teacher, former Sunday school superintendent, and was actively involved missionary programs.  She was preceded in death by her husband Everett Herndon in 2008; parents, Adolphus Monroe Washington Gilbreath, Jr. and Bessie Viola Hightower Gilbreath; son-in-law, Charlie Rauton; a granddaughter, Karen Rauton, three sisters, Pearlie Segers, Myrtie Simmons, and Ruthie Aysccue; and five brothers, Jesse, Amos, Willie, Julius, and James Gilbreath.

Mrs. Herndon is survived by three children, Warren Herndon and wife Carol of Charleston, South Carolina, Valita Herndon Rauton of Lyons, and Lynn Herndon and wife Nita of Blackville; six grandchildren, Tammy Rauton Lynn and husband Timmy, Tommy Rauton and wife Sharon, all of Lyons, Dr. Steve Herndon and wife Alexis of Daniel Island, South Carolina, Paul Herndon and wife Laura of Charleston, Michael Herndon of Vidalia, and Matthew Herndon of Blackville; twelve great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside funeral service will be held Saturday, December 30th at 11:00 a.m. in the Zaidee Advent Christian Church with John Herndon officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 and will assemble at the residence of a granddaughter, Tammy Lynn, 844 Ponderosa Road, Lyons.
