Peggy (Carter) Fountain

Peggy Carter Fountain, age 69, of Vidalia, passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017, after an extended illness and met Jesus face to face.  She was a native of Toombs County, and lived most of her adult life in Vidalia.  She graduated in 1966 from Toombs Central High School; she loved to learn, was class Salutatorian, and was also a star basketball player.  She graduated in 1986 from with an Associate of Science in Nursing from Middle Georgia School of Nursing.  She worked diligently as a registered nurse for many years at Meadows Regional Medical Center until she was forced to retire from her role as Director of the Emergency Department in 2011 due to her health problems.  She was preceded in death by her parents Carl and Mary Mac Carter; her brother Jerry R. Carter; her niece Kristy Dawn Carter; her maternal grandparents: Collie and Mary Lee Williams; her paternal grandparents Sam and Ollie Carter and Lizzie Carter; and half brother Jimmy Carter.

Peggy had a smile that would light up any room.  She was a constant encourager with a kind heart and an humble spirit.  She always looked for ways to serve and give to others.  She loved to be spontaneous and was always up for a new adventure.  She enjoyed baking so that she could share with others.  Peggy was most proud of her role as Mimi to her two granddaughters.  She will be deeply, deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Ms. Fountain is survived by her daughter Angie Horne and husband Kevin of Augusta; two granddaughters Carter and Sadie Kate Horne; her sister Joyce Carter Brazell of Hazlehurst; her nieces and a nephew, several great and great-great nieces and nephews, and family friend Tammy Denmark.

A celebration of life service will be held Friday, September 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Don Moye officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
