Vidalia,

Mrs. Montyne Yvonne Harris, age 80, died on Easter morning, April 5, 2015 at the Community Hospice Center in Vidalia.  Montyne was a native of Vidalia and traveled extensively throughout her life with her late husband, Sam Harris. They moved to Alaska in 1968 and raised two boys on the Last Frontier.  While in Alaska, she worked for the Corp of Engineers and created many fond memories of life in the North Land.  After retirement they traveled between Alaska and Florida as “Snowbirds” for five years before returning to Vidalia for good in 2002.

She is survived by two sons, Mike and Tim Harris, three granddaughters, Christine Johnson, Lindsey Nelson and Kayla Sams, one great- granddaughter, Charlotte Montyne Nelson and one great-grandson, Samuel Sams, all of Anchorage.

She also leaves, and will be missed, by many relatives and friends in Vidalia and the “Lower 48”.

The memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 7th at 2:00 p.m. in chapel Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Ron Womack officiating.  Her ashes will be taken back to Alaska to be spread with her late husband’s across the bay in Homer at Sadie Cove, per her wishes.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
