Vidalia/Reidsville

Mr. Robert “Mercer” Cook, Jr., age 43, of Vidalia and Reidsville, died Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at his home, after a sudden illness.  He was a native of Vidalia, grew up in Reidsville, and also lived in Milledgeville and Savannah.  He was a chef at Huey’s Restaurant in Savannah, worked in construction, and most recently at Benton Lee’s Steakhouse.  He was Baptist by faith, and was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Louise Joiner Brannen; and an aunt, Cheryl Raffield Dallas.

Mercer is survived by his father, Robert “Mercer” Cook, Sr. of Milledgeville; two sisters, Sheryl Cook “Trey” Hamm of Savannah and Michelle Cook Browning of Warner Robins; one brother, Joseph Lavone Cook of Stockbridge; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and fiancée, Kathy Phillips of Cedar Crossing.

A private family memorial service will be held later.
