Center Community,

Mr. Marlyn Thompson, age 82, of the Center Community, died Tuesday, December 5, 2017, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after a brief illness.  He was a native of Griffin, and was a U.S. Army veteran.  He lived in Winter Haven, Florida most of his life, and moved to Toombs County in 2003.  He retired as owner/operator of Marlyn F. Thompson Building Contractor, and was a member of the South Thompson Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse A. Thompson and Annie Mae Holcombe Thompson; and seven siblings.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Grace Mock Thompson; one daughter, Ginger Harrison and husband Dennis, all of the Center Community; three grandchildren, Bryce Harrison, Brock Harrison, and Bray Harrison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 9th at 11:00 a.m. in the South Thompson Baptist Church with Pastor B. L. Horne and Reverend Greg Riner officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
