Mr. Lester Colson, age 94, of the Blue Ridge Community, died Sunday, October 23, 2016 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness. He was a native of the Blue Ridge Community, moved to Warner Robins in 1952, and returned to Toombs County in 1962. He was an electrician at Robins Air Force Base, and was a cattle farmer. He was a member of the Vidalia Old Line Primitive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mannie Milton Colson and Carrie Shumans Colson; and seven siblings, Harley, Ernest, Clara, Cora Lee, Alice, Leila, and Bertie.
Mr. Colson is survived by his wife of sixty-seven years, Robena Durden Colson of Blue Ridge; one son, Milton Colson and wife Cheryl of Fountain, Florida; two daughters, Gail Colson Durden and husband Kenneth, and Cathy Colson Bondurant and husband Chuck, all of Blue Ridge; one sister, Alma Colson Higgs of Lyons; five grandchildren, Beth Munoz, Justin Bondurant, Garrett Bondurant, Crystal Chandler, and Adam Colson; nine great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, including a niece, Diana Ferrarini and husband Donald of Vidalia.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, October 27th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Vansant and Elder Tommy Rountree officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
