Vidalia,

Mrs. L. Ruth Spencer, age 88, of Vidalia, died Saturday, March 14, 2015 in Oxley Park Health and Rehabilitation in Lyons.  She was a native of Woodland, Pennsylvania, and was a graduate of Clearfield High School.  After she attended nanny school, in 1945 she was employed with the Heinz family.  She moved to Michigan in 1946, and has lived in Toombs County since 1979.  She worked in the food service industry most of her life, including manager of Wometco Food Service at Oxford Industries.  She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and attended the Vidalia Ward.  She was preceded in death her parents, Isaac and Rose Palmer Sayers.

Mrs. Spencer is survived by her husband of sixty-eight years, Lee Spencer of Vidalia; two sons, Gerald I. Spencer and wife Jackie of Lowell, Michigan, and Dale W. Spencer and wife Linda of Bay City Michigan; two brothers, James M. Sayers and wife Margie of Cartersville, and Charles Sayers and wife Joyce of Douglasville; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The memorial service will be held Thursday, March 19th at 6:00 p.m. in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Vidalia.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to God’s Store House and the Jesus Inn and Recovery Center, P.O. Box 1214, Vidalia GA 30475.
