Lyons,

Mrs. Katie E. Johnson, age 80, of Lyons, died Monday, May 15, 2017, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  She was a native of Ben Hill County, was Valedictorian of her 1955 Class of Abbeville High School, and was a graduate of Middle Georgia College in Cochran.  She retired after many years from Federal Pacific as secretary.  She attended Collins Full Gospel Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Johnson; parents, B.B. and Katie Blaiden Kirkland; two sisters, Barbara McGarity and Sheila Kirkland; and two brothers, Cliff Kirkland and Richard Kirkland.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by one daughter, Kim Sanders and husband Ben of the Marvin Yancey Community, one son, Mike Padgett and wife Kelly of Minot, North Dakota; four grandchildren, Jon Padgett of Minot, Julie Pollock of Torrington, Connecticut, Kristen Sanders of Pooler, and Brad Sanders of Marvin Yancey; six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The graveside funeral service will be held Friday, May 19th at 11:00 a.m. in the Reidsville City Cemetery with Pastor Andrew Nelms officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
