Long Pond Community,
Mr. Johnny O’Conner, age 70, of the Long Pond Community, died Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at his home, after an extended illness. He was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County, and was a U.S. Marine Corp veteran. He retired in 2006 after thirty years as a lieutenant with the Montgomery State Prison. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church near Alston. He was preceded in death by his parents, Buck and Ethel Lawrence O’Conner; and a sister, Nellie Joyner.
Mr. O’Conner is survived by three children, John O’Conner and wife Karen of Long Pond, Amber Durrence and husband Shane of Vidalia, and Captain Jeffery R. O’Conner of Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas; his former wife, Amber Prysock O’Conner; one brother, Emmett H. O’Conner and wife Marion of Jeff Davis County; two grandchildren, Emma Durrence of Vidalia, and Emmett O’Conner of Long Pond; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, February 24th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Chad Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Long Pond Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 until 8:00.
