Mr. Joel Evans Williams, Jr., age 57 of Toombs County, died Sunday, April 17, 2016 at his home in Loganville, after a sudden illness. He was a native of Toombs County, and was Valedictorian of the 1976 graduating Class at Montgomery County High School. He earned a Bachelor’s Degree and later a Juris Doctorate Law Degree from Mercer University Law School. He started his law practice with Francis Stubbs in 1983, and in 1986 founded Joel Williams Law. In 2003, he founded Joel Williams Law Offices in the Atlanta-Metro area in which he operated until his death. He was a member of the Smyrna United Methodist Church, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was preceded in death by his father Joel Evans Williams, Sr.
Mr. Williams is survived by his wife, Debbie McLendon Williams of Vidalia; one son, Joe Williams of Reidsville; one daughter, Megan Williams of Decatur; his mother, Maxine Mosley Williams; two brothers, Ronald Williams and wife Cindy, and Dan Williams and wife Pam, all of Uvalda; several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews; special friends Buddy, Glenn, and Durward Mosley; and his canine companion Dixie.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, April 21st at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Chad Watkins and Pastor Reece Mincey officiating. Burial will follow later in the Smyrna United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5:00 until 8:00.
