Mr. Joel Peacock, age 76, of Lyons, died Saturday, December 3, 2016 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after a brief illness. He was born in Butler, as a child moved to Macon, and lived there until moving to Lyons in the early 1970’s. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, and served on the USS Chilton. He was the owner of Joel’s Plumbing in which he operated thirty-four years, until his retirement. He was a member of Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union #472. He served several years on the Lyons Fire Department, and was a former longtime member of Tyrian Masonic Lodge #298 in Macon. He was a member of the Rocky Creek Baptist Church, and attended Journey at Southeastern Technical College. He was an amateur photographer, enjoyed playing the guitar and helping others. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eliga and Jessie Moore Peacock; and a brother, Johnny Peacock.
Mr. Peacock is survived by his wife, Audrey Hall Peacock of Lyons; one son, Matt Peacock and wife Holly; one granddaughter, Amelia Claire Peacock, all of Vidalia; one sister, Beatrice Peacock Thompson of Lizella; three brothers, Bobby Peacock and wife Kay of Swainsboro, Curtis Peacock of Ivy, and Wayne Peacock and wife Dawn of Eatonton; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Monday, December 5th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Black and Reverend Jason Corbett officiating. Burial will follow in the Lyons City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 5:00 until 7:00.
