Mr. Joel Outler, Jr., age 83, of Alston, died Monday, November 28, 2016 in Landmark Hospital in Savannah, after an extended illness.  He was a native of the Long Pond Community in Montgomery County, and lived in Alston most of his life.  He was the founder and former owner of the Alston Saw Shop, and was an active supporter of the City of Alston and the Alston Fire Department.  He enjoyed fishing, the outdoors, and working on his farm. 

Mr. Outler is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Faye Laseter Calhoun Outler of Alston; two sons, Chad Outler and wife Tonya and Chris Outler and wife Ronda; two sisters, Joyce NeSmith and Mary Rainwater; two brothers, Don Outler and Glen Outler; four grandchildren, Dustin, Brittany, Lindsay, and Cassie; two great-grandchildren, Hunter Aden Outler-Quintana and Ethan Alexander Outler-Quintana; one sister-in-law, Betty Calhoun Sowder; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, December 3rd at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Doyle Waller officiating.  Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
