Cedar Crossing,

Mrs. Janice Hart Thompson, age 67, of the Cedar Crossing Community, died Tuesday, June 14, 2016 in the Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  She was a native of Appling County, was a 1966 graduate of Appling County High School, and earned an Associate Degree from East Georgia College in Swainsboro.  She has lived in Cedar Crossing since 1968, and retired as a bookkeeper after twelve years from Fiber Optic Communications in Vidalia.  She was a member of the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church where she sang in the choir.  She was an excellent cook, and everyone who went to her home was well fed.  She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Lacy Hart and Ora Lee Rentz Hart; and two brothers, Noah Hart and David Hart.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband of forty-eight years, Charles E. Thompson of Cedar Crossing; five children, Janet Wise and husband Todd of Jesup, Chuck Thompson and wife Angie of Brantley County, Julie Phillips and husband Troy of Leesburg, Jennifer Miller and husband Daniel of Cedar Crossing, and Nikki Hunter and husband Jesse of Ellaville; two sisters, Imogene Green and husband Arva Lee, and MaryAnn Johnson and husband “Pee Wee”, all of Baxley; thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandson, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, June 17th at 11:00 a.m. in the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church with Pastor Reece Mincey officiating.  Burial will follow in the Thompson Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the Cedar Crossing Baptist Church on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
