Great Man, I met Mr. Couey the first time when I signed up to play baseball in the City of Vidalia many years ago. From then on he was Coach Couey even when he was employed at the Parole Office on Lyons. Coach thanks for everything you did for me and the rest of ball players. I just can't be sad at the passing of my friend Sid Couey ! If ever a man enjoyed life and caused others to enjoy it, it was Sid. I first met Coach Sid Couey as my baseball coach at Brewton Parker College in 1975...I remember him standing at home plate with a fungo bat hitting the ball to the deepest part of the outfield and shouting "You better not let that ball drop" ! Smile....later we worked together at Piggly Wiggly, and then at CSB....He took me on my first bird hunting trip, and showed me that three bird dogs could fit under the front trunk of a Volkswagen beetle.....he also showed me how to deal with a bird dog that ate the bird......smile...Ms Barbara and family, please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers, and my love for you and my friend Sid will be forever ! May God Bless !

My condolences on the loss of a fine man. I attended College Hill while at BPC and Sid was the first to welcome me.We later worked together in law enforcement,he never changed,salt of the earth guy. He will be missed.
