Vidalia,

Mr. James “Jim” Anners, age 95, of Vidalia, died Saturday, June 18, 2016 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after a brief illness.  He was born in Calhoun, Alabama, grew up in Mt. Willing, Alabama, and was a graduate of Hayneville High School in Hayneville, Alabama.  He was a U.S. veteran of World War II, and the Korean War.  During World War II, he was a Boiler Technician First Class on the battleship U.S.S. Wisconsin BB-64.  He was a graduate of Troy State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, and earned a Master’s Degree in Math from the University of Alabama.  He began his teaching and administrative career in Cullman, Alabama, where taught and was principal for several schools in Alabama.  In 1970, he moved to Vidalia and served as principal at Vidalia High School, and later retired from the Vidalia School System.  After retirement, he accepted the headmaster position at Robert Toombs Christian Academy in Lyons, serving for four years.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia and the Fellowship Sunday School Class.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara “Bobbye” Anners; a son, Randy Anners; and parents, William James Anners and Viola Garrett Anners.

Mr. Anners in survived by two sons, Mark Anners and wife Grace, and Danny “Deno” Anners and wife Robin, all of Vidalia; nine grandchildren, and  seventeen great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Monday, June 20th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Scott Morrison and Reverend Bill Vansant officiating.  Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
