James H. WebberJuly 6, 1933 ~ November 4, 2017 (age 84)
Mr. James “Papa” Webber, Sr., age 84, of Lyons, died Saturday, November 4, 2017, in Meadows Park Health and Rehabilitation in Vidalia, after an extended illness. He was a native of Evans County, and has lived in Toombs County since 1941. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War and served as a military policeman. He farmed most of his life, worked with Altamaha EMC in Lyons, and Grumman Aerospace in Savannah. He was a member of the Rocky Creek Baptist Church where he was a lay speaker and usher. He was a former member of Lyons Masonic Lodge #49 and the Royal Arch. Mr. Webber was preceded in death by his first wife, Voncile Fields Webber; a son, James Howard Webber, Jr.; parents, Joe Webber and Birdie Deloach Webber; two sisters, Katherine Smith and Rose Marie Swinson; and one brother, Earnest Webber.
Mr. Webber is survived by his wife, Linda Wooten Webber of Lyons; one daughter, Wanda Webber Thompson and husband Louie of Lyons; two sons, James Marcus Webber and Chazz Yeomans, both of Lyons; two sisters, Joselee Black and husband “Buddy” of Richmond Hill and Clisteen King of Waycross; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Monday, November 6th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Black and Reverend Russell Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in the Cobb Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Webber requested memorial donations be made to the Rocky Creek Baptist Church Building Fund, 2298 Johnson Corner Road, Lyons GA 30436.
