Mr. J.W. Carter, Jr., age 71, of the Center Community, died Wednesday, January 28, 2015 in the Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia after an extended illness.  He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, and lived in the Center Community for the past forty-six years.  He worked at Rose Bud Manufacturing in Vidalia and Toombs County Manufacturing in Lyons for thirty-six years, and at Concerted Services for more than three years.  He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in the Army National Guard for six years.  He was a member of the Church of God, and enjoyed gardening and fishing.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John W. Carter, Sr. and Pearl Long Carter; two brothers, Arville Carter and Bill Carter; and two sisters, Edna Hutto and Bessie Carter.

 

J.W. is survived by his wife of forty-six years, Betty M. Carter; one daughter, Pam Carter Lively and husband Michael; two granddaughters, Jessica Lively and Taylor Lively, all of Center; two sisters, Madeline Bennett and Lynette Madray, both of Jesup; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 31st at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Tomberlin and Reverend Bill Vansant officiating.  Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
