Vidalia,

Mr. Howard Lee Fountain, age 90, of Vidalia, died Saturday, April 4, 2015 in the Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  He was a native of Emanuel County, and lived there until enlisting in the U.S. Army.  He was a veteran of World War II, served in the Pacific Theater of Operation, and was the recipient of several awards, including the Combat Infantry Badge.  When the war ended, he was deployed to Japan, and served as part of the Army occupation.  He moved to Toombs County in 1946, was the owner of Howard Fountain Construction Company for fifty years, and was Baptist by faith.  He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-four years, Mary Nabb Fountain; son, Ray Fountain; parents, Mallie and Maudie Fountain; and five siblings, Pete Fountain, H.C. Fountain, Annette Maltby, Wilton Fountain, and M.C. Fountain.

Mr. Fountain is survived by four children, Pat McCoy of the Center Community, Roy L. Fountain, Sr. and wife Betty of Glenwood, Julie Fountain Screws and husband Robert of Lyons; Roy L. Fountain, Jr. and wife Dawn of Pooler; daughter-in-law, Laura Fountain of Soperton; ten grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, eight great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 8th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Russell officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
