Mrs. Hazel C. Roberts, age 82, of Vidalia, died Sunday, May 22, 2016 in Jacksonville, Florida, after an extended illness. She was a native of Vidalia, and was a 1953 graduate of Vidalia High School. She moved to Savannah in 1955, and lived there until returning to Vidalia in 1994. While in Savannah, she worked for twenty years as administrator for the Chatham County Tax Commissioner. She was a former member of the Cokesbury United Methodist Church in Savannah, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Vidalia and the Era Alexander Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Roberts; parents, Berry and Delma Lorraine Moore Carroll; one brother, Randall Carroll; and three sisters, Virginia Carroll Black, Sara Carroll Ford, and Doris Carroll Pearson.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by one son, Harry Michael Roberts and wife Patty; one daughter, Linda Roberts Turner and husband Wes, all of Jacksonville, Florida; one sister, Shirley Carroll Thompson and husband William; two brothers, Bobby Carroll and Dick Carroll, all of Vidalia; four grandchildren, Lee Roberts, Drew Roberts, Starr Barton, and Summer Jackson; three great-grandchildren, Grayson, Delaney, and Quincey; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, May 26th at 3:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church with Reverend David Blalock officiating. Burial will follow in the North Thompson Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday afternoon from 2:00 until just prior to the service.
