Mr. H.A. Burns, Jr., age 95 of Vidalia, died Saturday, September 26, 2015 in Meadows Park Health and Rehabilitation in Vidalia.  He was a native of Johnson County, lived in Vidalia most of his life, and was a graduate of Vidalia High School.  He was a successful businessman, the former owner of seven auto parts stores, including Vidalia Motor Parts which he co-founded in 1951 and Burns Auto Parts in Reidsville.  He was an outstanding citizen, member of the First United Methodist Church of Vidalia, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of the V.F.W. and member and Past President of the American Legion.  He was a charter member, Past Governor, and Pilgrim of the Loyal Order of the Moose Vidalia-Lyons Lodge #1281, and Past Honorary Governor of the Legion of the Moose #128.  H.A. enjoyed real estate acquisition, boating, family meetings, and after dinner speeches.  He was a generous man, a kind-hearted employer, a gracious landlord, and a faithful friend.  More than that, he was a devoted husband, a loving father, and the best grandfather this world has ever known.  He was respected and loved by many, and will be missed.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman Albert Burns, Sr. and Ludella Webb Burns; and nine brothers and sisters. 

Mr. Burns is survived by his wife of seventy-two years, Mary W. Burns; two sons, Earl Burns and wife Sherry, and Jimmie Burns and wife Susan; one daughter, Patricia Burns, all of Vidalia; three granddaughters, Gina Page and husband Sean of Vidalia, Rebecca Stubbs and husband Justin of Decatur, and Kathleen Burns of Atlanta; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 29th at 11:00 a.m. in the First United Methodist Church of Vidalia with Reverend David Blalock and Reverend Robert Greene officiating.  Burial will follow in Lakeview Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
