Mrs. Grace Johnson Thigpen, age 76, of Mt. Vernon, died Wednesday, March 22, 2017, in the Treutlen Living Center in Soperton, after an extended illness.  She was a native of Toombs County and lived in Montgomery County most of her life.  She worked with Telemon Corporation for many years as food service manager.  She was a lifetime member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary in Mt. Vernon, and was a member of the Higgston Baptist Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Thigpen; a son, Roy Gene Thigpen; great-grandson, Logan Blake Morris; her parents, Roy Johnson and Eula Pearl Powell Johnson, and brother, Donnie Johnson.

Mrs. Thigpen is survived by two daughters, Rachel Roberson and husband Greg of Waynesboro and Dianne Green of Mt. Vernon; one son, Howard Thigpen and wife Cathy of Mt. Vernon; three sisters, Geraldine Mitchell and husband Dan of Vidalia, Evelyn Odom and husband James of Anniston, Alabama, and Linda Harvey and husband Wendell of Lyons; two brothers, Ray Johnson and wife Susan of Baxley, Wayne Johnson and Debbie of Lyons, sister-in-law, Judy Johnson of Adrian; nine grandchildren, Leigh, David, Dale, Amber, Michelle, Josh, Dalton, Dylan, and Mackenzie; five great-grandchildren, Luke, Addison, Jaxton, Karleigh, and Kellyn; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Friday, March 24th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend B.L. Horne officiating.  Burial will follow in the Braddy Cemetery in Kibbee.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
