Vidalia,

Mr. Gary G. Osborne, age 70, of Vidalia, died Monday, November 9, 2015 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  He was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, and was a 1964 graduate of Vidalia High School.  He retired as a correctional officer in 2001, working with Montgomery State Prison and Reidsville State Prison.  He worked for two years as a police officer with the Vidalia Police Department.  He was a member of Lyons Masonic Lodge #49 and was Baptist by faith.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Pres and Annie Carter Osborne; and a brother, Charles Osborne.

Mr. Osborne is survived by one son, Chris Osborne and wife Amy of Alston; one daughter, Scarlett Osborne McDaniel and husband James of Calhoun; one brother, Preston Osborne of Laurens County; four grandchildren, Spencer McDaniel, Lilly Anna McDaniel, Emily Osborne, and Morgan Osborne; and a devoted friend, Delores Holland Powell.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Gary Martin officiating.  Burial will follow in the Edmond Chapel Church of God Cemetery in Johnson Corner.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
