Mr. Gary D. Adkins, age 83, of Vidalia died Monday, July 27, 2015 in his home after an extended illness. He was a native of Lookout, Kentucky and lived there until joining the United States Army after high school. While serving, he fought in the Vietnam War and was the Chief of Security for the Taunus House in Germany. He retired from the military as a supply sergeant in 1973 and moved to Toombs County in 1975. He was a member of the Eagle’s Club and was preceded in death by his wife of forty-six years, Dorothy "Dot" Adkins.

Mr. Adkins is survived by his children, Ken Adkins and wife Lynn of Ludowici, Clyde “Larry” Adkins and wife Aislin, Marcia Brightwell and husband Phillip all of Vidalia, Dennis Minich and wife Rachael of Minnesota, and Douglas Minich and wife Mary of Sarasota, Florida; one brother, Timothy Adkins and wife Barbara of Texas; one sister, Bonnie Adkins of North Carolina; ten grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The service will be private.
