Faye DeLoach Brewer of Ailey was born in Rochelle, Georgia on March 29, 1937. She passed away April 19, 2018 at Vidalia Community Hospice after a short illness.

She is preceded in death by her father, Hugh Dorsey DeLoach of Macon, GA; mother, Lillian Smith DeLoach of Macon, GA; husband, John Robert Brewer of Ailey, GA; daughter, Celia JoAnn Brewer of Atlanta, GA; and brothers, Joe and Harry DeLoach of Macon, GA.

She is survived by her brother, Frank DeLoach of Macon, GA; sister, Sandra DeLoach of Monterey, CA; sister and brother-in-law, Linda D. and Wayne Robertson of Gray, GA; five nieces, three nephews, and a grandson; guardian son, Azatjon B. Nasretdinov and daughter-in-law, Sitora S. Nasretdinov of Bukhara, Uzbekistan.

Faye D. Brewer graduated from Boston High School in 1955; graduated from Tift College in 1959 with a B.A. in History and Religion; attended Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, KY from 1959 – 1960; completed a summer fellowship program in Economics at the University of North Carolina in 1970; received her Master of Education degree in 1982 and Education Specialist degree in 1984 from Georgia Southern University.  She graduated from high school with 13 other classmates and received a full scholarship to Tift College. She attended the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary; She was named Star Teacher six times, named 15 times in “Who’s Who” by students, and published in the Illinois Schools Journal by Chicago State University, College of Education in 1992; “Faye D. Brewer Excellence in Teaching” award was created and awarded to her in 1999 and continues to be awarded to teachers in her honor; upon retirement, Mount Vernon City Council sponsored by the County Educators named the street leading from Montgomery County High School to Brewton-Parker College the Faye D. Brewer Street.   

Her career in education began as a substitute teacher in Boyle County, KY in 1960. She began teaching full-time at Jeff Davis County Middle School in 1963. She was an adjunct professor at Brewton-Parker College from 1989 – 1999. She held the longest tenure (1964 – 2007) in the history of the Montgomery County School System as a high school teacher.  

She was a member of the Georgia Association of Educators; National Council of Social Studies; Georgia Council of Social Studies; Delta Kappa Gamma; Ailey Garden Club; American Association of University Women; The Georgia Historical Association; Professional Association of Georgia Educators; Member of Baptist Faith 1946 – 1989; United with the Methodist Faith 1989; and served in numerous leadership roles in Vacation Bible School, Girls Auxiliary, Young Women Auxiliary, Women’s Missionary Union, Sunday School, Church Pianist and Organist.  

A memorial service for Mrs. Faye DeLoach Brewer was held Sunday, April 22, 2018, at 4:00 in Saliba Chapel at Brewton-Parker College.
