Mrs. Earlene Sears Drake, age 85, of Vidalia, died Sunday, March 25, 2018, in the Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia, after a brief illness. She was a native of Montgomery County, was a 1949 graduate of Mt. Vernon-Ailey High School, and has lived in Vidalia most of her life. She was a supervisor for Globe Manufacturing for many years, and later worked as manager of Top Value Stamp Redemption Center. She was a member of the Smith Street Baptist Church, and was a former longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Vidalia. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Sears; parents, Raymond Joyce and Sidney O’Conner Joyce; two brothers, Garvis Joyce and Bill Joyce; and sister, Elise Joyce Outer.
Mrs. Drake is survived by her husband, Emory Drake of Vidalia; one son, Randy Sears and wife Isabel of Hephzibah; one daughter, Kathy Sears Votau and husband Tom of Savannah; two step-daughters, Sandra Drake Sharp of Carlton, and Kimberly Drake of Orange park, Florida; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Friday, March 30th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Chester Proctor officiating. Burial will follow in the Pinecrest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
