Mr. Earl Smith, age 79, of the Kibbee Community, died Saturday, November 26, 2016, in the Meadows Regional Medical Center in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  He was a native of Kibbee, and was in the last graduating class of Kibbee High School.  He lived in Duval County, Florida for thirty years, retired from Greyhound as a bus driver, and returned to the family farm in 1988.  He was a lifelong farmer, served eight years in the Army National Guard. He was an Auxilian in Nassau County with the Florida Highway Patrol, and a member of the Hill Climbers of the First United Methodist Church of Lyons.  He was a Deacon and member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Abbie Isaac Smith and Carrie Hall Smith, and was the last of seven brothers and sisters.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Shirley Wilkes Smith of Kibbee; one son, James Donald “Donnie” Smith and wife Melissa of Tarbough, North Carolina; one daughter, Audria Jean Smith Williams and husband Matt of Youngstown, Ohio; four grandchildren, Seth Ethan Williams, Kaleb Ashton Williams, Amanda Danielle Smith, and Victoria Gracen Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 29th at 3:00 p.m. in the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Dr. Keith Tipton officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. 

The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from Noon until just prior to the service.
