Alston,

Dr. Janice Lawrence Sturgis, age 53, of Alston, died, Monday, June 22, 2015 in the Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, after a sudden illness on Saturday.  She was a native of Montgomery County, and lived there most of her life.  She was a 1979 graduate of Montgomery County High School, and was a U.S. Army veteran.  She was a Doctor of Chiropractic and the owner of Vidalia Chiropractic in Vidalia. She was a graduate of the Sherman College of Straight Chiropractic in Spartanburg, South Carloina.  She was a member of the Uvalda Baptist Church, and was preceded death by her father, Mack Lawrence; and a sister-in-law, Tracy McCaw Lawrence.

Dr. Sturgis is survived by her husband, Tim Sturgis of Alston and formerly of Cedar Crossing; her mother, Alatha Caraway Lawrence of Alston; three step-children, Tim Sturgis, Jr. of Cedar Crossing, Tasha Nicole Sturgis and Alisha Sturgis of Charlotte, North Carolina; one sister, Diann Lawrence of Alston; one brother, Steve Lawrence of Alston; four step-grandchildren, two nieces, Dr. Christy Powell of Alston and Jamie Lawrence of Vidalia; two nephews, Stacey Powell of Lyons and Daniel Lawrence of Alston, two great-nephews, and three great-nieces.

The funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 24th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Adrian Bell and reverend Heath Wingard officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lawrence Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from 1:00 until just prior to the service.
