Mr. Donny Earl Collins, age 62, of Lyons, died Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at his home, after an extended illness. He was a native of Lyons, and lived in Cobbtown and Tattnall County most of his life. He was the wildlife manager for Dr. Phillip Wirth and Mike Thompson, and was a member of the Lower Corinth Free Will Baptist Church, song leader and preacher of the Gospel. He was preceded in death by his father, Payton Collins, and step-father, Ronnell Mills.
Mr. Collins is survived by his wife, Pamela A. Collins of Lyons; four children, Daniel Collins and wife Sandi, Bobbie Jo Powell and Robert, all of Cobbtown, Alicia Payne and husband Kevin, and Stephanie Auton and husband Josh, all of Blairsville; his mother, Willie Mae Mills of Cobbtown; one sister, Patti Harrison Boyd and husband Jack of Lawrenceville; three brothers, Ric Coley, Gene Collins, and Monty Collins and wife Ona, all of Cobbtown; seven grandchildren, Trevor Hutto and wife Katey, Austin Hutto and wife Tori, Gage Powell, Hunter Payne, Hayden Payne, Holden Payne, and Braxton Auton; one great-grandson, Layton Hutto; several nieces and nephews; and a special devoted friend, Clint Hutcheson of Oak Park.
The funeral service will be held Friday, July 7th at 11:00 a.m. in the Lower Corinth Free Baptist Church with Reverend Clint Hutcheson and Harold Milligan officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
