Don WillifordMay 5, 1943 ~ July 19, 2017 (age 74)
Mr. Don Williford, age 74, of Garden City, died Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Summer’s Landing in Vidalia after a brief illness. A native of Oak Park he lived most of his life in the Savannah area and was a member of former Friendship Baptist Church in Midway. He retired from a long, successful career as a plumber in the construction industry. Before attending plumbing school and joining the Union Local # 188 of Savannah he graduated Valedictorian of his class at Oak Park High School and served in the U.S. Army. He loved family photos, genealogy and sharing stories, enjoyed puzzles, classic country music, and old western movies. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus and Annie Mae Lumley Williford; and six siblings, R.L. Williford, Otis Williford, Ottis Williford, Geneva Williford Waters, Ruth Williford Hall, and infant sister, Carolyn Williford.
Mr. Williford is survived by one daughter, Donna Williford Montgomery of the Richmond Hill/Savannah area who now lives with her husband, James in Virginia Beach, Virginia; four brothers, Ray Williford and wife Faye of Jacksonville, Florida, Bobby Williford and wife Jackie of Jesup, Aubrey Williford and wife Shirley of Florida, and Rudolph Williford of Vidalia; one sister, Margrette Williford Foskey of Oak Park; two granddaughters, Amelia Montgomery, (9) and Tess Montgomery, (7); and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, July 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Andy Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Findley Cemetery near Oak Park.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
