Mr. Don Powell, Sr., age 61 of the Johnson Corner Community, died Monday, June 22, 2015 in the Specialty Select Hospital in Savannah, after an extended illness.  He was a native of Toombs County, and lived all of his life in his beloved Johnson Corner.  He farmed for many years, and later became a carpenter and builder.  He was preceded in death by a son, Jason Powell; his father, A.L. “Tot” Powell; and a brother, Larry Powell.

Mr. Powell is survived by one son, Bruce Powell of Johnson Corner; his former wife, Betty Poole; four granddaughters, Challice, Hannah, Sadie, and Kelsey Powell; his mother, Geneva Partin Powell Fiveash of Macon; one sister, Alicia Brinson and husband Charles of Johnson Corner; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Thursday, June 25th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Black officiating.  Burial will follow in the Hardens Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
