Mrs. Diane Hamilton Coursey, age 67, of Vidalia died Monday, February 23, 2015 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness. She was a native of Toombs County, and lived there most of her life. She was a 1966 graduate of Vidalia High School. She was a paraprofessional at the Cedarwood Program and at Toombs County High School, and also worked at Calvary’s Kinder Academy at Calvary on Aimwell. She was a member of the Lyons Free Will Baptist Church, served as the Sunday school secretary. She was very involved in her grandchildren’s life, and was a pastor’s wife. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bernard and Lucy McDonald Hamilton; grandson, Duncan Coursey; and brother, Billy Leon Hamilton.
Diane is survived by her husband, Jimmy M. Coursey of Vidalia; five children, Alan Coursey and wife Tanya of Lyons, Melanie Powell and husband Chad of Vidalia, Nathan Coursey and wife Amy of Lyons, Kelly Coursey and wife Kristen of Vidalia, and Heather Jackson and husband Will of Lyons; two brothers, Ray Hamilton of Mt. Vernon, and Bobby Hamilton and wife Jennie of Vidalia; grandchildren, Dustin, Dilan, and Hannah Coursey, Meagan Williams, Brooke and Amanda Powell, Shelby, Cullen, Carsen Coursey, and Haiden, Jailyn, Braiden, and Raelyn Jackson, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 25th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the McDonald Cemetery in Montgomery County.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon from 12:30 until just prior to the service.
