Vidalia,

Mr. David Boyd, age 60, of Vidalia, died Tuesday, September 6, 2016, at his home.  He was a native of Columbia, South Carolina, was a graduate of Spring Valley High School, and attended Midlands Tech in Columbia.  He was store manager Hess Oil Company in Columbia.  He moved to Vidalia in 1990, was assistant manager at Burger King in Vidalia for many years, and attended the Tabernacle Baptist Church.  He was an avid Gamecock and Braves fan.  He was preceded in death by a son, Brandon Boyd; parents, Hermon Lamar Boyd and Miriam Patricia Taylor Boyd; one sister, Susie Boyd Bruce, and two brothers, William Taylor and Thomas Lamar Boyd.

Mr. Boyd is survived by one son, Jordan D. Boyd of Kennesaw; one daughter, Kimberly Boyd Shackleford and husband Michael of Frederick, Maryland; two sisters, Pat Boyd Mitchell of Vidalia and Judy Blalock of Juliette; and one grandchild, Avery Shackleford of Frederick.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, September 11th at 4:00 p.m. in the Tabernacle Baptist Church with Pastor Bobby Thompson officiating.

The family will receive friends at the church on Sunday afternoon from 3:00 until just prior to the service.
