Mr. Daniel Avellaneda, age 60, of Lyons, died Saturday, September 2, 2017, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after a sudden illness.  He was a native of San Lucas, Michoacán, Mexico and has lived in Georgia for the past twenty-one years.  He was a seasonal worker in Frostproof, Florida and Michigan, and owned a pine straw business.  He attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church.  He was preceded in death by a son, Homero Reyes; mother, Zela Luviano de Avellaneda; grandparents, Desideria Valerio and Daniel Avellaneda I; and one brother, Jorge Avellaneda.

Mr. Avellaneda is survived by his wife of twenty-seven years, Gloria Avellaneda of Lyons; five children, Danielle Avellaneda of Hephzibah, Daniel Avellaneda Jr. of Lyons, Adrianna Avellaneda of Cobbtown, Monico Reyes of New Ellenton, South Carolina, and Rosa Reyes of Greenville, South Carolina; ten siblings, Olivia Avellaneda of Zitácuaro, Michoacán, Aida Avellaneda of Mexico City, Maria Concepcion Avellaneda of Zitácuaro, Michoacán, Perfecto Avellaneda of Lyons, Ofelio Avellaneda of Wahneta, Florida, Eugenio Avellaneda of Pompano Beach, Florida, Fernando Avellaneda of Lyons, Monica Vega and husband Alejandro of North Carolina, Custodio Avellaneda, and Adrian Avellaneda both of  San Lucas, Michoacán; seven grandchildren, Jonathan, Jazmine, Reyna, Alaric, Cristobal, Victoria, and Catalina.

The graveside service will be held Sunday, September 3rd at 3:00 p.m. in the Lyons City Cemetery with Reverend Trent Akins officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
