Vidalia,

Mrs. Dana Helms, age 78, of Vidalia, died Saturday, October 21, 2017, in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness.  She was a lifelong resident of Montgomery County, and was a graduate of Town and County Academy in Cedartown.  She was a licensed cosmetologist, and was the owner/operator of Mademoiselle Beauty Shop in Vidalia for thirty years.  She was a member of the Higgston Baptist and a former teacher of the Dorcas Sunday Class.  She enjoyed gardening and yard work.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Eschol and Ethel Calhoun Dixon; a brother, Ovid Dixon; and a sister, Shirley McDaniel.

Mrs. Helms is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, JT Helms; two sons, Cary Helms and wife Amanda, and Bryne Helms, all of Vidalia; six grandchildren, Chad Helms and wife Jessica, Brent Helms, Michael Helms and wife Andrea, Brianna Helms, Emily Helms, and M.J. Helms; and four great-grandchildren, Reece, Brayden, Shelby, and Blayne Helms.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 24th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Pastor Allen Rea officiating.  Burial will follow later in the Ferguson Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
